Cape Lookout
On the way back south from Tilllamook to Pacific City we stopped for a brief hike. There was no wind, and the views were spectacular.
Polar Bear swim
Leave it Zane to not just go wading, but to fall completely and get soaked. At the Oregon coast. In December. Brrrrr.
Pacific City in December
Ron and Mary Ann's 50th anniversary was September 14, which is a great reason for their 3 kids and spouses and 7 grandkids to rent a house for 3 days at the coast to celebrate. We took advantage of a beautiful winter day with minimal rain to explore outside.

The Pie Safe
After hiking in the woods for a tree, it is becoming traditional to stop on the way home at The Pie Safe in Deary for delicious homemade soups, breads, and cinnamon rolls. Deary is a dinky town on the way to nowheresville, but this establishment makes it a worthy destination. Nana and Papa would love it.

Zane as tee boy for Idaho football
So Zane got to be Tee boy for the Idaho / UND game. (See accompanying pics) This meant we were right on the sidelines for the game winning play! What a game!! Vandals pull out the win in the last minute.

Speech meet time again
Zane and Karsten both scored the highest in the Bible category in their classes, so they continued on to the inter-school speech meet in Spokane yesterday. It was Karsten's first year and Zane's 3rd, but he still said he was shaking because he was so nervous. But they both rocked it and earned superiors. Zane recited Joshua 1:1-9, and Karsten did Galatians 5:22-26. This pic is of Karsten waiting his turn before the meet started; Zane's group was in another room. There were 5 groups of competitors all together.

Halloween
Signe decided to join her brothers for at least one more trick-or-treat adventure, even though she is getting a little old. I thought they did a great job of putting together their costumes, since we didn't even talk about it until after school today.
Gunnar especially got a few comments on his getup. His Thrashers shirt was a gift at the end of the year football banquet last night, given only to the boys who played all 4 years (3rd-6th grade). It says "retired" at the bottom.

5th/6th grade team dominates!
Gunnar's White Thrashers also dominates today in another shutout win. Gunnar is shown with his baseball buddy Cam Hurn. After Cam's dad died last spring he didn't feel very motivated to play sports this fall. But after watching his brother Aiden on Zane's team he decided to join just a couple weeks ago. He made an immediate impact; today on defense he stripped the ball from the quarterback and ran long for a touchdown.
3rd / 4th grade FB championship game.
Silver Thrashers won 14-0 in the Kibbie Dome today! Zane went from minimal playing time as a 3rd grader in the first game, to dominating at nose tackle today with a couple of sacks and lots of messing with the quarterback. Nick was the offensive coach and defensive coordinator all season.

Pick 6!
Karsten has one more flag football game left in the season next week, but tonight he had his best game yet. He caught a pass for an interception and ran it back for a touchdown, and knocked a couple more down. The other team was shut out. He also grabbed a couple flags for tackles.
