Doing remodeling in our new house.

Dad did all the cutting and nailing. I did the trim and planing. Abby has done most of the painting. Carpet arrives next week. Fun project but not easy when done in the middle of a move.

The cedar smells wonderful and the polyurethane should keep this room beautiful for years to come.

When I started planing these 100 year old boards, the smell was unmistakable, definitely cedar. And the boards were hard as rocks. I dulled my friend's planer putting 60 of these boards through it.

... Because the ship lap boards were actually cedar!

When I asked the guy in charge of the tear down of the silo what type of wood these 1x6 ship lap boards were, he said he thought they were pine. Turns out he was wrong.

Putting in reclamation wood. Got the boards from an old massive grain silo that is being torn down in Moscow, ID.
